Even the mature moose have difficulty getting out of the deeper holes.
Yearling moose like this one can often be seen struggling to get back out of deep mud, but as these pictures show many times they think twice before jumping  in..
As tempting as it was this young moose didn't go into the deep mud.
The moose on right is not a yearling, but more likely a two year old.  The white frosted look is the winter coat coming out.  Until they finish shedding they're pretty sorry looking!

Once their mothers turn them loose, yearlings wander around bravely going where no moose in his right mind would go!  
This yearling moose ran across the field!
It's only a matter of a few days before they settle in to a normal routine and you're less likely to see them crossing open fields in broad daylight!
